Wearable

Art is central to our lives, but so often it’s confined to the walls of museums (or our Instagram accounts): I want Art to fill the world! By creating scarves—wearable art—I’m hoping to bridge part of that gap, to bring light and color and movement onto the streets, going everywhere we go.

I love working in a square format—it’s the most comfortable format for my photographs, and most of my art too—so I could simply print many of my works on silk without alteration. But they also have a lot of negative space around the central image, or within it, so it has been an interesting challenge to find a designs that more completely fill the space.

I have created two scarf designs. The first, the “Palace” series, is based on the shapes from the “Into The Deep” group of my “Artibles” series, manipulated much the same way as the “In The Round” group, but I’ve also added a linear displacement that pulls the shapes out into the corners.

The second series is based on my image “Metro,” loosely inspired by  subway maps, and drawing heavily on the OpArt inspiration that powers most of my work.

The scarves are beautifully printed on heavy gauge pure silk, with hand-rolled hems, and measure approximately 36″ square; they are $150 each. Please contact me for details!
