Sisal

Sisal leaves grow wrapped tightly around a central stem, so the barbed edges of one leaf leave indentations in the undersides of the leaves underneath them: this results in amazing patterns, wonderful criss-crossing ghosts and ghosts of ghosts, that endure even once the leaves are fully unfurled.
