Agita, 2023

Agita is my first interactive piece, conceived as a grid of colored plates that respond to your touch. The simple grids of 60s and 70s Minimalism are striking and very much the effect I am trying to achieve here, but they can be somewhat austere.

The movement and transformation of the plates are intended to create a sense of playfulness, to pique your curiosity and encourage you to delve into the artwork further.

(Click here to view in a dedicated window.)

As you explore the piece, you will encounter a pair of hidden icons that allow you to change the colors of the piece, and adjust the physical dimensions of the grid. Through these control panels, it’s possible to create utterly different sets of images, allowing for a unique and personal encounter with the visual elements.

(The pop-up icons work more smoothly on devices with mice, where they appear only when the mouse rolls over them. On a touch screen, it’s rather more hit and miss, and I am still exploring ways to make their appearance/disappearance more intuitive.)

So, please embark on a journey of discovery and fascination with Agita, where the artwork comes to life at the touch of your fingertips!
