The Blue Planet series is a delight, the amazing footage of the natural world beguilingly narrated by David Attenborough. I am especially transfixed by the wonders of the deep sea, the streaking, pulsing, flashing lights of the denizens of the ocean abysses, inspiring the pieces in this series.
When I started experimenting with different color backgrounds, I found that it completely changes the tenor of the pieces and how the colors interact. However, using black somehow sucks the colors out of them. Switching to a very dark blue instead makes the colors pop.
The images are available as ready-to-hang float-mounted prints, created using dye transfer on aluminum, a process that yields a beautiful enamel-like finish and really makes the colors pop.
